The nursing intervention in El Arenal takes place on Tuesday mornings, and the PUCE students have allowed me to tag along and observe them as they work with the families. I have been very impressed with the students' ability to establish rapport with the families and effectively communicate health messages. In addition to collecting observation data for a fidelity check of the intervention, my latest experiences in El Arenal have included: bonding with an 8-month old baby girl, listening to a handicapped man talk about overcoming his self-esteem issues with his love of painting, and getting nipped in the nalgas by a huge, beautiful husky mix upon entering his owner's yard.

On Tuesday, we took a trip to the Tumbaco Centro de Salud. This is the primary healthcare access point for most of our population in El Arenal.
